Hi Cheese Friend,
In many States around Australia March marks the start of the leaves changing colour, shorter days and lower temperatures. Whilst many of you might fear the end of beach weather, autumn actually is a brilliant time; with moderate temperatures allowing for a wonderful a combination of indoor and outdoor entertaining and – in our view most importantly – the official return of the cheese as a fixed part of the meal. Whether it’s an apéro with a combination of bubbly and our Rolf Beeler Sbrinz (https://www.alpineexpress.com.au/our-cheese/selection-rolf-beeler-alp-sbrinz/) , a kipfler potato gratin with our raclette cheese (https://www.alpineexpress.com.au/our-cheese/selection-rolf-beeler-raclette/) as a side dish or a selection of our artisan Swiss cheese (https://www.alpineexpress.com.au/our-cheese/) for dessert, the choice is yours!
Here at the headquarter of The Red Cow, March also marks an important preparation month for some exciting, upcoming events. So, if you’re based in Melbourne, two are definitely worthwhile marking on your calendar:
** Swiss Festival, Melbourne

On Sunday 6 April 2014, Swiss groups, organisations and companies representing all four national languages and 26 states of Switzerland are part of the Swiss Festival 2014. This is where the whole Swiss community showcases its unique culture, traditions and food. We are of course part of it and will have a cheese stand offering you the opportunity to buy cheese off the wheel or savour one of our specially crafted Swiss artisan cheese tasting boxes. Plus this year we’re partnering with ED’s Breads (https://www.facebook.com/pages/EDS-Breads/219270271560939?ref=ts&fref=ts) . Ed will be selling his delicious Swiss style breads like the Walliser Roggenbrot (rye bread) or the Basler Ruchbrot (Basle dark wheat bread) along side us. It will be heaps of fun!

** Swiss Soirée

Then there’s the German Film Festival where the Swiss Consulate organises a special evening adeptly called “Swiss Soirée”: Indulge in a Swiss feast and meet two charming ladies from Switzerland: Lovely Louise and Rosie, two Swiss films shown on the night. During the interval, a Swiss DJ will spin “Alpensounds” and – wait for it – authentic, delectable specialities will be offered. Yes, you guessed correctly, The Red Cow will be providing some of our specially selected Rolf Beeler cheese for everyone to taste.
